"The day the mountain blew apart"

In Language Through Literature, we read a story about the eruption of Mount St. Helens, on May 18th 1980, in the city of Washington (U.S.A).This story, is an "Historical Narrative"; it means a story of a historical event where people and places are true.

The main idea of the story is about the eruption of Mount St. Helens. It shows the consequences that the volcano left, such as 57 deaths, schools,  shops, houses, all of them destroyed. Many animals died too. A big forest was totally destroyed. Jobs, schools, and shops were closed; people started calling that place "Ghost town" because people stayed inside their houses, if they go outside, they couldn't breath because of the ash that was covering everything. Finally the place started coming back to life. Plants and trees were growing up again thanks to the surviving gophers that brought the rich soil to the surface.

The eruption of this volcano, such as many others, destroyed part of a city.
In my opinion people have to be CAREFUL in where they build up their homes.
